Steelheads: Pink in the Rink Highlights Busy Week at Qwest Arena

(Boise, ID) - Specially-themed pink jerseys will be on display this week when the Idaho Steelheads face the Ontario Reign as the team will once again auction off the popular, game-worn keepsakes to raise money.

It is part of a busy week at Qwest Arena as the Steelheads prepare for their final weekend homestand of the regular season. Game time each night is 7 PM.

Wednesday, March 23: "Pink in the Rink" begins, fans can place silent-auction bids on their favorite jerseys on the Qwest Arena concourse behind Section 113. Winning bids will be determined at Saturday's game. Tim's Cascade Snacks will also be on hand to hand out free samples to fans as they leave after the game.

Friday, March 25: It is Pepsi Hat Night as fans will have the opportunity to get free Steelheads cap, courtesy of Pepsi. The Steelheads will hand out team awards prior to Friday's game, from awards voted on by the team to honors selected by the team's front office. The team will continue wearing pink jerseys as part of "Pink in the Rink" and Tim's Cascade will again hand out free samples as fans leave. The team will also have an on-ice post-game autograph session.

Saturday, March 26: The Annual "Guns and Hoses" amateur hockey game between the Boise Police Department and Boise Fire Department takes place at 1 PM before the Steelheads game. "Pink in the Rink" concludes with the end of the silent auction when the third period begins. Fans who place winning bids can pick up their souvenir from the player after the game near the team's bench. And Tim's Cascade will hand out free samples of their products to fans leaving Qwest Arena one more time.

The Idaho Steelheads have been doing jersey auctions to raise money for local charities and non-profit organizations since 1998. In that time, the Steelheads have helped to raise over $335,000 for Treasure Valley charities and non-profits. The beneficiary of this year's "Pink in the Rink" is the St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute.

"Pink in the Rink" Week is here - the Idaho Steelheads will host the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night at Qwest Arena. The team will be wearing specially-themed pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to raise money to fight breast cancer.
