December 12, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
GAMES
Friday, December 16, 7 p.m. - Elmira Jackals - SNHU Arena
Saturday, December 17, 6 p.m. - Elmira Jackals - SNHU Arena
WEEK IN REVIEW The Monarchs played two games last week, and came out with a 2-0-0-0 record.
Wednesday night, the Monarchs hosted the Norfolk Admirals for the first time this season, and ended the night with a 6-3 victory over their Eastern Conference foes. The Monarchs received goals from six different players, including the 5th goal in three games by Rihards Bukarts. Sam Brittain started in net, and earned his 10th win of the season.
Friday, the two teams squared-off again, with the Monarchs coming out with a 5-3 win. Manchester received two goals from Kevin Morris, as well as tallies from Justin Agosta, Zac Lynch and Daniel Doremus.
WHERE WE STAND The Monarchs enter the week all alone at the top of the North Division (32 pts.), one point clear of the Adirondack Thunder, and on a four-game winning streak. Manchester remains one point behind in the Eastern Conference standings, trailing the Florida Everblades (33 pts.) for the top spot in the East.
LEADING THE WAY The Monarchs are led in scoring by Daniel Ciampini who has posted 21 points on six goals and 15 assists in 22 games this season. Quentin Shore now leads all active Monarchs with nine goals, and fellow University of Denver alum, Daniel Doremus, leads the team with 16 assists. Sam Brittain continues to pace Monarchs goaltenders in wins (11), GAA (2.54) and save percentage (0.909).
NEXT MAN UP The Monarchs offense took a hit with the AHL call-ups of Joey Diamond to the Springfield Thunderbirds and Justin Agosta to the San Antonio Rampage, as the duo combined for 41 points (17g, 24a). While no team wants to lose two of their top scorers, the team's balanced attack, consisting of 11 players with double-digit points, will look to keep the Monarchs as the Eastern Conference's highest scoring team (91 goals).
KINGS OVER JACKS? Manchester will host the Elmira Jackals at SNHU Arena this weekend, in a battle between the best and worst teams in the North Division. The Jackals come to Manchester winners of their last game against the Everblades, but have posted a 4-4-2-0 record in their last 10 games. Despite their lackluster record and standings in the division, the Jackals have taken the only two meetings between these two teams by a combined score of 7-4.
TOP CATS The Jackals are led in scoring by Sebastien Sylvestre, who has posted 13 points on five goals and eight assists in 18 games. Former Monarchs (AHL) forward, Kenton Miller, is second on the Jackals in points with 12 (7g, 5a). Andy Iles is the goaltender the Jackals have turned to the most, and has posted a 2-8-2 record, a 3.10 GAA and a 0.906 save percentage.
TICKETS The Monarchs return to SNHU Arena on Friday, Dec. 16 (7 p.m.) when they open a two-game series with the Elmira Jackals.
