THE FUEL IN REVIEW: In the midst of a physically-demanding schedule consisting of 5-consecutive games invading enemy territory, the Indy Fuel broach the latest new week of ECHL league action presently residing in seventh place in the extremely competitive Western Conference Central Division standings with a record through 22-games of 22(8-12-2) for 18-points.Under the tutorship of head coach Bernie John, the Indy squadron is currently encountering the woes and throes of a 6-game losing streak and overall 7-games' winless spell; 7(0-6-1). The Fuel's last toast of triumph transpired back on Thanksgiving Eve, November 23rd when they clipped the Wings of Kalamazoo at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum, 5-3. With that victory, the Fuel swelled their win streak to 6-in succession. Having fallen short in their initial trio of contests on their most recent road junket, the Fuel will complete the rigorous road regimen with a pair of duels at Cincinnati on Thursday and Friday nights this week. Indy has dropped 3-consecutively on foreign ice and are winless in their last quartet of road excursions; 4(0-3-1). Their last taste of victorious success abroad occurred back on November 12th in Alaska where the men of the Fuel dispatched the Aces in a 2-0 shutout result.

THE TOSS OF THE TEDDYS: When the Fuel return home to Indiana Farmers Coliseum following a two-weeks' absence this upcoming Saturday night, December 17th, they will be presenting their annual, ever-popular Teddy Bear Toss presented by RTV6, for the Christmas Holiday gift-giving season. The Fuel are making a call to all hockey fans and local sports fans to attend this special game night armed with a teddy bear, stuffed animal or any other similar furry creatures. When your favorite hometown team scores its first goal that same night against divisional rival Quad City, fans will have the opportunity of tossing their stuffed animals onto the ice and they will be collected for the local Christmas Toys for Tots program. On that same night, the Fuel will be in search of an end to a three-games' losing skein in their own friendly climes and environs. Indy is 2(0-1-1) in tussles with the Mallards, bowing 4-1 here on November 5th and a 4-3 OTSO affair November 25th in Moline, IL where the Fuel's 6-game win streak ended and their current winless spell started.

3 DOWN 2 TO GO: The past week, the Fuel hit the exceedingly long runways at particularly low altitude in the form of three bouts abroad against Eastern Conference North Division foes. The expedition was initiated Wednesday morning at Brampton where the Beast overcame a 3-1 Indy lead and on the impetus of 5-unanswered goals, including 3 in the middle stanza, derailed the "Fuel-Men," 6-3. Matt Rupert (TBG/PP), Tyler Currier (TBG) and Alex Wideman stoked strikes for the Fuel. The road show arrived in Reading for a pair of clashes over the weekend. Friday night, the Fuel experienced a humbling episode in succumbing to the molten-lava hot Royals in their most lopsided loss of the season, 8-2. Alex Wideman (FG) and Nick Mattson (TBG) staked the visitors to 1-0 and 2-1 first period advantages before the Royals rebounded with 7-consecutive goals; 4 in the opening stanza and a "trifecta" of strikes in the third period. Saturday night in the encore engagement, once again, the Fuel finest seized an early 1-0 lead on Raphael Corriveau's first goal of the season. However, the Royals were to respond, once again. This time the Royals rallied with 3-unanswered goals to complete the sweep of the series, 3-1..

PERSISTENT TO BE CONSISTENT: Head Coach Bernie John continues in his efforts to attain more consistency and continuity in his lineup. A synopsis of the season at this juncture would read something like this: The Fuel win 2-in a row to launch the new campaign on a high note. To follow is a 7-games' winless span of 7(0-6-1). This protracted winless streak is then followed by a magnificent 6-game winning skein and overall 7-game unblemished streak. That has now been followed with a 6-game losing streak and 7-game undefeated span.

MUST SEE FUEL TV: The Indy Fuel return to the glitz, glamour and bright lights this Saturday night when they tackle Quad City at the Fuel's Annual "Teddy Bear Toss Night." WTHR-TV 13 / COZI-TV will have all of the action in simulcast form joined by the exclusive radio flagship home of the Indy Fuel, CBS SPORTS 1430. Terry Ficorelli will have the play-by-play call with Bob Kravitz and Talor Whitaker alongside.

STYLINGS BY TYLER: In a less-than exemplary week for Indy's hometown team, right wing Tyler Currier distinguished himself with some inner-strength stardom. The 4-year pro essayed 2-points in 3-games for the week on 3(1-1-2) with his goal representing the tie-breaking strike in his club's 3-goal opening period output the past Wednesday in Brampton. In Saturday night's encore duel with the Royals in Reading, the Anchorage, Alaska ace authored the primary assist on the team's sole goal in the 3-1 setback. He also delivered 10-SOG. Currier is the Fuel's nomination for Sher-Wood/ECHL Player of the Week.

THE SECOND COMING OF KEEGAN: Third year netminder Keegan Asmundson marked his second coming to the Fuel for the '16-17 season with an outstanding performance Saturday night in Reading. The record-breaking, history-making Canisius College standout brushed aside 23 of 25-shots, grudgingly surrendering 2-GA in his club's 3-1 outcome opposing the Royals. For the week, the 6-5 human puck barricade posted a minuscule, miserly 2.03 GAA and .920 SPCT. Asmundson is the Fuel's nomination for CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week.

NICK GETS QUICK: Indy second- year defenseman Nick Mattson also attained a sound and solid week on the Fuel back line. The erstwhile U. of North Dakota and USHL Indiana Ice star fired his first goal of the campaign; the TBG Friday night in Reading. His point-shot sizzler catapulted his club into a momentary and temporary 2-1 lead at that point of the contest. For the week, the NHL parent club Chicago Blackhawks draft pick also contributed with 6-shots on the goal.

THE FUEL-MEN MARKSMEN: 1- Alex Wideman 22(11-11-22); 2- Kevin Lynch 22(6-9-15); 3- Marek Tvrdon 21(7-5-12); 4- Tyler Currier 21(5-6-11); 5- Anthony Beauregard 21(5-5-10); 6- Jonathan Carlsson 22(1-9-10); 7- Nick Mattson 22(1-8-9); 8- Matt Rupert 22(5-3-8); 9- Patrick D'Amico 16(2-5-7); 10- Tyler Barnes 4(1-6-7).

PP NAY; PK YAY! Addressing the Fuel special teams at this hour of the campaign, the power play remains less-than prolific while the penalty killing cast has continued its mastery as a model of consistency since the inception of the season. As far as the extra man band is concerned, it is 7-51 for the season; 13.7% proficiency rating. The PP is only 1 for the last 21; 4.8%. Through the first 11-road games, the power play is 1-29; 3.3%. Meanwhile the shorthand band has been brilliant, operating at 86.7%; 65-75. Marek Tvrdon (3) tops the team in PPG; Matt Rupert (2) is right behind. Tyler Currier has delivered Indy's lone SHG thus far this season.

FUEL FACTS: After being unbeaten when scoring the game's FG at 8(7-0-1), the Fuel have fallen in their latter 2-starts when accomplishing this feat. Through the first 3-games of this 5-games' road mission, the Fuel have yet to connect on a goal after the first period. All 6-GF have been generated in the first frame. The second and third periods have been a swoon-tune for the Fuel on the road, being outscored 15-5 in the middle session and 16-5 in the third period for a combined 31-10. In the first 22-games, the Fuel have scored 3-GF or more a total of 8-times. On the road, they have yet to score more than 3-GF after 11-road decisions. Twice this past week, Indy established season-bests by permitting only 4-SOGA in a single stanza. Marek Tvrdon tops the team in two-goal games with 3; Alex Wideman is next with 2. After missing 6-games due to injury, Patrick D'Amico has earned an assist in each of his first 2-games back into the lineup. The Fuel have a combined record of 9(8-1-0) when holding the lead after each of the first two periods.

THE DAILY FUEL FILL-UP: All Fuel hockey fans can stay up to date every day even when there is not a game. It's "The Fuel Fix From Fic," Monday through Friday afternoon during the Kent Sterling Show from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm on the exclusive radio flagship home of the Indy Fuel, CBS SPORTS 1430.
