Admirals Make Four Player Swap with Tulsa

NORFOLK, VA. - The Norfolk Admirals announced on Monday that the team has traded defenseman Sam Noreau and the rights to forward Alexandre Ranger to the Tulsa Oilers in exchange for forward Ben Murphy and goaltender Steven Summerhays.

Murphy, 25, has played in 16 games this season with Tulsa, registering five goals and six total points over the course. The four-year standout from Bowling Green State University is a right-handed shot and is expected to play on the wing for the Admirals.

Summerhays, 26, comes in at a time where the Admirals find themselves in desperate need of goaltending. Connor Knapp started four games in five days during the team's road trip to Adirondack and Manchester after Eetu Laurikainen suffered an injury that will cause him to be out a month.

Sam Noreau, who had been acquired by Rod Aldoff and the Admirals back on October 25, skated in 18 games with the Admirals prior to being dealt on Monday. The former Montreal Canadians draft pick had five points and 28 penalty minutes during his second stint in blue and gold.

Alex Ranger has been playing with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League since November 11. After spending all of training camp with the AHL club and former Admirals head coach Eric Veilleux, Ranger was sent to Norfolk on October 14, only to be called back up three weeks later. The 21-year-old forward has only played in four games with his new club, however.

Both Murphy and Summerhays are expected to be in action Wednesday when the team takes on the South Carolina Stingrays for the first of a three-game set.
