Previewing This Week

Friday, Dec. 16 vs. Alaska - 7:35 p.m. & Saturday, Dec. 17 vs. Alaska - 7:05 p.m. | Home vs. AK (0-0-0), Away vs. AK (0-0-0)

Missouri hosts Alaska for the first time in team history this weekend, but it will not be the first time the teams have met. Last season the Aces hosted the Mavericks' training camp in Anchorage and the teams played a three-game series to open the regular season. The Mavericks dropped the opener 3-1 but stormed back to take the next two games 3-0 and 3-1, respectively. Alaska enters play this week trailing first place Colorado by two points and sporting 6-1-3 record in its last ten games. Alaska is 6-2-2 on the road this season and has the league's fifth-best points percentage on the road at .700. Friday and Saturday mark the only two meetings this season between these Mountain Division foes.

Recapping Last Week

Wed., Dec. 7 at Allen: L 1-4

Radoslav Illo scored a third-period goal to earn himself a career-high three-game goal streak, but it wasn't enough offense as Allen led 3-0 at the time. The loss was Missouri's second in a row to Allen and fourth in a row overall, its first four-game losing streak since April 1 to April 8, 2016. [1]Full Recap >>>

Fri., Dec. 9 at Tulsa: W 3-2

The Mavericks fell behind Tulsa 2-0 on Friday night but rattled off three straight goals 7:55 apart to erase the deficit. It was the first time this season the Mavericks gave up the first two goals in a game then came back to win. Josh Robinson stopped 29 shots in the win and Darren Nowick scored his first pro shorthanded goal in the effort. [2]Full Recap >>>

Sat., Dec. 10 vs. Tulsa: SOL 2-3

Saturday was the first time the Mavericks played beyond regulation at home this season, and it took seven rounds of a shootout to decide a winner. Sam Povorozniouk and Dane Fox scored in regulation to help the Mavericks back from a 1-0 deficit, but the lead only lasted 51 seconds before Tulsa tied it. Each team's first two shooters scored in the shootout, but no one could score in the next four rounds. Tulsa eventually won it with a goal in the top of the seventh. [3]Full Recap >>>

Sun., Dec. 11 at Wichita: L 3-4

The Mavericks narrowly missed pulling off their biggest comeback of the season, but couldn't fully dig themselves out of a three-goal third-period hole. Lukas Lofquist and Dane Fox netted goals 81 seconds apart to bring the Mavs within a goal of tying the score, but Wichita hung on for the victory. It moved the Thunder to 2-0-0 in the "Visit Wichita, Visit Independence" Cup. [4]Full Recap >>>

Mavs Moments

- Dane Fox has been putting up more than a point per game since the start of December. He leads the Mavericks with seven points (4g, 3a) through six games this month. The best December of his career was last year with 9 points (4g, 5a) in 12 games.

- The Mavericks enter play this week looking for their first home win since Nov. 15 vs. Allen (0-1-1). The Mavericks are 1-1-1 in their last three at home and have limited opponents to 2.33 goals-per-game over that stretch.

- Missouri went 2-for-6 against the league's best power play, Wichita, on Sunday to improve to 12.7 percent on the PP this season (21st). It was the fourth time this season the Mavericks scored multiple power play goals in a game.

- Mavericks rookies Sam Povorozniouk and Darren Nowick have had a big impact on the offense this season. Nowick ranks ninth among league rookies with 16 points (6g, 10a) thanks to a surge that has seen him net six points (3g, 3a) in six games this month. Povorozniouk netted two goals in four games last week to move into a tie for second among rookies with nine goals.
