Monarchs to Hold Pond Hockey Classic in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, a primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, are partnering with Werner Mazda to present the Manchester Monarchs Pond Hockey Classic at Dorrs Pond in Manchester on Saturday, February 12, 2011, Monarchs President Darren Abbott announced today.

The tournament will be comprised of 32 teams in two age divisions, an under 35 division and a 35-plus division. The tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude with the final game being played at 4:00 p.m. Teams will skate in three games with the semi-finals and the final game concluding the day's action. Standard pond hockey guidelines will be followed with 150-foot by 75-foot rinks and teams skating 4-on-4 with no goaltender. There will be two 15-minute periods with a two minute intermission dividing them.

The entry fee per team is $360.00 and benefits the Manchester High School Hockey Programs of Memorial and Central High Schools. This entry fee includes six tickets to the Monarchs game on Friday, February 11 against the division-rival Portland Pirates. Teams participating in the tournament will be recognized during the game. Additional tickets to the Monarchs game can be ordered with proceeds to benefit the high school hockey programs.
