Peoria Rivermen News Release
Jean Philippe Lamoureux became the second goaltender this season to shutout the Peoria Rivermen this season as he backstopped the Abbotsford Heat to a 2-0 win on Wednesday at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. He faced just 22 shots and helped stop all seven Rivermen power plays en route to his first shutout of the year.
The Rivermen were outshot in the opening frame 17-4 and but trailed only 1-0 in large part to the effort of Jake Allen. At 18:08 Bryan Cameron tapped in a Ryley Grantham feed in front through the legs of Allen for his fifth of the year. Stefan Meyer also picked up an assist on the goal.
The Heat struck on the power-play in the second period. T.J. Brodie fed Jon Rheault in the bottom of the right circle and he one-timed his sixth of the year by the blocker of Allen. It was the first and only power play goal for the Heat in 21 chances against the Rivermen this season.
The Heat outshot the Rivermen 37-22 in the contest and 10-4 in the third period. The Rivermen were held off the board on all seven power-play chances, the first time this season they have come up empty with at least six opportunities in the game. It also marked the first time this season the Rivermen have allowed two goals or less in a game and failed to win (24-1-0-0).
The Rivermen continue on their four game road trip on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Toronto against the Marlies. The game can be heard locally on 96.5 ESPN Radio or online on www.rivermen.net.
