FORNEY RETURNS TO CHICAGO

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned left wing MICHAEL FORNEY from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators to the Chicago Wolves.

FORNEY, who was named to the roster for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic, ranks first on the Gwinnett Gladiators and fifth in the ECHL with 28 assists and paces the team and shares 11th in the league with 38 points in 39 games this season. He also has skated in four American Hockey League games with the Wolves this year, posting one assist.

The 22-year-old forward made his professional debut in three games with Chicago last year, and amassed 11 goals, 26 points and 66 penalty minutes in 63 ECHL contests with the Gwinnett during his rookie campaign.

Prior to turning pro, the Thief River Falls, Minn., native led the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) with 60 points, tied for first with 26 goals and held second with 34 assists in 59 outings in 2008-09. FORNEY also tallied two assists and 12 penalty minutes in 19 career outings with the University of North Dakota (WCHA), spanning two seasons (2006-08).
