Monarchs Storm Thunder, 6-3

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Manchester Monarchs defeated the Adirondack Thunder, Wednesday night, by a score of 6-3, at the Cool Insuring Arena.
The Monarchs (7-6-1-1) four second period goals, were good enough to earn a win against the Adirondack Thunder (10-6-0-1), for their third straight victory.
The Monarchs opened the scoring at 4:44 of the first period, when Matt Marcinew scored his fourth goal of the season. Chaz Reddekopp sent a pass through an Adirondack defenseman, where Marcinew one timed a shot past Thunder goaltender, Cam Johnson, to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.
The Thunder answered at 12:40 of the first period, making the score 1-1, with a goal from Mike Szmatula, earning his fifth goal of the season. Matt Salhany found Szmatula skating into the Monarchs zone, where Szmatula snuck a backhand shot past Monarchs goaltender, Chris Driedger, evening the score.
The Thunder extended their lead at 16:36 of the first period, with a power-play goal from Szmatula, earning his second goal of the night and sixth goal of the season. Kelly Summers sent a pass across ice to Szmatula, where he one timed a slap shot past the glove of Driedger, to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead.
Adirondack opened the scoring in the second period with a power-play goal from James Henry at 1:53 in the second period, scoring his third goal of the season. Shane Conacher sent a pass through the Monarchs crease, finding Henry, where he slipped a shot past Driedger, extending the Thunder lead to 3-1.
The Monarchs cut the lead down to 3-2, with a goal from Spencer Watson at 9:03 of the second period, scoring his ninth goal of the year. After a shot from Joe Pendenza, Watson picked up the rebound and backhanded a shot past Johnson.
Just over two minutes later, The Monarchs tied the game up with a goal Pendenza at 11:36 in the second period, scoring his fourth goal of the season. After a shot by Watson at the crease, the puck came free, where Johnson attempted to cover the puck up. Pendenza found the puck first, and then found the back of the net, making the score, 3-3 Manchester.
The Monarchs regained the lead at 13:28 of the second period, with a shorthanded goal from Craig Wyszomirski, earning his first goal of the season and the Monarchs first shorthanded goal of the year. Nic Pierog skated into the Thunder zone, where he sent a pass, cross ice, finding Wyszomirski. Wyszomirski then ripped a wrist shot past Johnson, to make the score, 4-3.
The Monarchs extended their lead to 5-3, with a goal from Pendenza at 18:01 of the second period, earning his fifth goal of the season. Pendenza skated into the Thunders zone, where he moved past an Adirondack defender and snuck a shot through the legs on Johnson.
Joe Sullivan extended the Monarchs lead to 6-3, at 5:31 of the third period, earning his second goal of the season. After a turnover in the defensive zone from an Adirondack defenseman, Sullivan picked up the puck and put home a wrist shot past Johnson, to finish off the scoring.
