Newfoundland Growlers News Release

The Newfoundland Growlers 8-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night in Jacksonville after dropping a 2-0 decision to the Icemen.

Former St. John's Maple Leaf Kris Newbury scored what would be the game-winning goal at the 4:57 mark of the second period after tucking in a rebound past Growlers goaltender Michael Garteig.

The second Icemen goal would come after an errant puck found its way about Garteig, who caught the puck but fell back into his own cage before the play was blown dead. After a short discussion Maxime Fortier was awarded the goal for the Icemen.
