Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, will hold their second annual intra-squad Skills '08 competition at Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College on Sunday, February 10 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
The competition will be modeled after the AHL's annual All-Star Competition with seven events: Puck Control Relay, Rapid Fire, Accuracy Shooting, Breakaway Relay, Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot and Pass & Score. The Monarchs squad will be divided into two teams with honorary coaches from WMUR Channel 9 and WGIR 610 AM/Rock 101 FM.
Monarchs Coach Mark Morris will have the assistance of Rock 101's Greg Kretschmar on the bench and Assistant Coach Scott Pellerin will be assisted by WMUR's Sports Director Jamie Station. The coaches and honorary coaches will choose their teams through a private draft in the locker room prior to the date of the Skills '08 competition.
Following the event on February 10, the specialty jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned off through both a silent and live auction. The Monarchs players will also come up on the concourse to sign autographs post-competition.
There are only 1,200 tickets available for the event and they will go on sale Thursday, January 17. Advance tickets are $8 for reserved seating and $7 for general admission and can be purchased at the Monarchs Pro Shop and Sullivan Arena. At the door on the day of the competition, tickets are $10 for reserved seating and $9 for general admission.
