
Canucks Recall Raymond; Re-assign Rypien, Brown to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have recalled left winger Mason Raymond from the Moose and re-assigned centre Rick Rypien and right winger Mike Brown to Manitoba.
Raymond, 22, has played 23 games with Vancouver this season. After being recalled by the Canucks on Dec. 11/07, the Calgary, AB native scored his first NHL goal and added an assist Dec. 12/07 at Anaheim. He has scored three goals in total and seven assists for 10 points and five penalty minutes. In 19 games with Manitoba this season, he has tallied seven goals and 16 points, including a hat-trick and five-point night Nov. 21 at Rochester. He also had three points in three games since being reassigned to the Moose Jan. 12/08. Raymond was originally Vancouver's second-round pick, 51st overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Rypien, 23, has played in nine games so far this year with the Canucks where he's scored a goal and an assist for two points and 20 penalty minutes. In his career, the Coleman, AB native has appeared in 16 NHL games - all with Vancouver - where he's scored two goals and an assist for three points and 29 penalty minutes. This year with the Moose, Rypien has a goal and seven assists for eight points and 33 penalty minutes in 15 games. He played two games with Vancouver after his most-recent recall on Jan. 12/08.
Brown, 22, scored two goals and three points, as well as 69 penalty minutes in 17 games with Manitoba before being recalled by Vancouver Nov. 19. The Northbrook, IL native made his NHL debut Nov. 21/07 and scored his first NHL goal Dec. 2/07, both at Minnesota, bringing his NHL total to one goal and 51 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Canucks. Brown was originally Vancouver's fifth choice, 159th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
