
"Joe Thornton" invades DCU Center

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced that "Joe Thornton" will join the Worcester Sharks, the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks, at the DCU Center on January 19, 2008, when the Sharks host the Providence Bruins at 7:05p.m. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Joe Thornton Bobblehead Doll courtesy of News Talk 580 WTAG.
The former first round draft pick (1st overall, 1997) and former captain of the Boston Bruins, has scored the most points in the National Hockey League since being traded to the San Jose Sharks on November 30th, 2005 for Wayne Primeau, Brad Stuart, and Marco Sturm. Thornton spent 7+ seasons with the Boston Bruins (532gp, 169 goals, 285 assists, 454 points). Here is a list of the achievements by Joe Thornton since his trade to the San Jose Sharks:

As of January 16, 2008, Joe Thornton is 8th in the NHL scoring race with 55 points (14-41-55) in 45 games played with the San Jose Sharks.
The first 3,000 fans will receive a Joe Thornton Bobblehead Doll, courtesy of News Talk 580 WTAG, before the Sharks host the Bruins on Saturday, January 19th. New England Revolution midfielder Shalrie Joseph and Mascot Slyde will also attend to help celebrate "Massachusetts Youth Soccer Night." Shalrie will kick soccer balls into the stands and sign autographs during the first intermission. Sharks players will sign autographs during the second intermission as part of Saturday Night Signings. After the game, visit Boston Billiard Club in Worcester, as Sharks players will serve as celebrity bartenders.
