Monarchs Sign Medak

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed right wing Judd Medak to a professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Medak, 24, joins the Monarchs after scoring 10 points (5-5=10) in 10 games with Manchester's ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals. The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, also collected 22 penalty minutes in the 10 games.

Medak, a second-year pro, scored 43 points (17-26=43) and collected 104 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Greenville Grrrowl (ECHL) last season. He also appeared in nine games with the Chicago Wolves (AHL), scoring four points (2-2=4) and registering six penalty minutes. He will wear jersey no. 48 when the Monarchs meet the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell later today.

The Monarchs (10-7-1-2) and the Lock Monsters are scheduled to meet today at 2:00 p.m. They will then return home to the Verizon Wireless Arena for a 7:35 p.m. contest with the Providence Bruins on Saturday, November 29. The first 5,000 fans in attendance at Saturday's game will receive a free MAX mini-bobblehead doll, courtesy of Catholic Medical Center. The Monarchs will then close the weekend on Sunday, November 30 at 4:05 p.m. with a road game at the Centrum Centre against the Worcester IceCats.
