
Miettinen, Smith lead Grizzlies over Ducks

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Antti Miettinen scored two goals to lead the Utah Grizzlies to a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Friday at Cincinnati Gardens.
Miettinen, a Dallas Stars prospect, gave Utah a 2-1 lead with an unassisted shorthanded goal 2:59 into the second period and scored the go-ahead goal with a power-play tally with 2:25 left in the third.
David Oliver added insurance with an empty-net goal with 18 seconds left in the third period. The goal was the first in 17 games for Oliver, who scored 20 goals in 1995-96 with the Edmonton Oilers.
Mike Smith stopped 39 shots, including 33 over the final two periods, to improve to 3-5-0 on the season.
Chris Kunitz and Casey Hankinson each had shorthanded goals for the Ducks, who lost for the fourth time in five games.
Ilya Bryzgalov, who entered the game with a 1.01 goals-against average at home, gave up three goals on 22 shots in the loss.
Cincinnati completes a three-game homestand Sunday at 5:05 p.m. against the Grand Rapids Griffins. The entire Ducks team will be available to sign autographs for fans after the game.
