BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey Leagueâ?Ts Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, improved their franchise-record, unbeaten-in-regulation streak to 14 games at 12-0-1-1 as Rookie Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz made 19 saves for the first shutout of his professional career in a 3-0 home win over the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday. The Sound Tigers also improved their overall winning streak to eight games, their home-ice unbeaten-in-regulation streak to eight games at 6-0-1-1, their power-play goal-scoring streak to eight games and moved into a tie with the Hershey Bears for first place in the East Division.
Jeff Hamilton opened the scoring with his AHL-leading ninth power-play goal and League-leading 15th goal overall 11:06 into the game off assists from Brandon Smith and Eric Manlow.
Mattias Weinhandl doubled the lead to 2-0 with his second goal of the season 8:10 into the second period off assists from Ben Guite and Brandon Smith.
Smith then iced the win with an unassisted, shorthanded, empty-net goal at 19:46 of the third period, his third goal of the season and third point of the game.
The Sound Tigers were 1 for 7 on the power play, 5 for 5 on the penalty kill and ousthot Hartford 20-19. Dubielewicz was the first star of the game, Smith the second, and the Sound Tigers' Kevin Colley was the third. The Wolf Pack's Phil Osaer made 17 saves in a losing effort.
The Sound Tigers will visit the Lowell Lock Monsters tomorrow at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
