Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announced on Sunday that the team will recognize the 25 departments that have lost a total of 43 New Hampshire police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. The Monarchs will place department badges of the fallen officers on the limited edition police inspired jerseys that the team will wear on American Pride Night when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

"Each and every day, men and women risk their lives to keep the citizens of New Hampshire safe," said Monarchs Senior Vice President Cheryl Abbott. "These 25 departments had 43 of their comrades give their lives to protect us and it is an honor for our players to bear the departments and counties for which they protected day-in and day-out on American Pride Night."

The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, will give away nine of these jerseys through a raffle to fans as they enter the arena that night and 16 jerseys will be available through a silent auction, live auction and an online auction with proceeds benefiting the New Hampshire Explorers Program. The first 3,500 fans in attendance on February 20 will receive a raffle card upon entry. Three raffle numbers will be announced during each period. The fans whose numbers match those announced during the game will each win a game-issued jersey. Greg Kretschmar from Rock 101's Greg and the Morning Buzz will emcee the live auction and run the on-ice intermission activities.

Media interviews and photo opportunities with Monarchs captain Drew Bagnall in one of the limited edition jerseys, Officer Michael Briggs' partner Officer John Breckenridge, NH Explorers Program Officer Christopher Biron and his K9 Officer Colt, and a member of the NH Explorers Program in front of the Manchester Police Memorial on Merrimack Street in Manchester on Monday, February 15 at 11:30 a.m.

New Hampshire Explorers, ages 14-21 who are interested in a career in law enforcement, participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, including law enforcement training, competitions and community service activities, such as traffic and security control.

During the Monarchs game on Saturday, February 20, the team will honor the New Hampshire police, fire and military with a special pipe and drum tribute at center ice during the first intermission. The Monarchs will also pay tribute to the fallen officers with a special video.
