
Canadiens Assign David Desharnais, Tom Pyatt And P.K. Subban To Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QC - The Montreal Canadiens announced today that forwards David Desharnais and Tom Pyatt and defenceman P.K. Subban have been assigned to the Bulldogs from the Canadiens. Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Julien BriseBois also announced today that the club has assigned forward Maxime Lacroix to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
Desharnais, 23, played in six games with the Canadiens this season, registering one assist, his first NHL point, on February 10th against the Washington Capitals. The 5-foot-7, 177-pound centre has skated in 37 games with the Bulldogs ranking second on the team in points with 48 (16 goals, 32 assists) while serving 24 penalty minutes. The native of Quebec City, Quebec signed as a free agent with Montreal on November 5, 2008.
Pyatt, 23, played in 22 games with the Canadiens this season recording one goal and one assist, his first two NHL points in a game against Washington on February 10th. In 36 games with the 'Dogs this season, the native of Thunder Bay, Ontario has amassed 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) and six penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound centre was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 4th round, 107th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and acquired by Montreal in a trade with New York on June 30, 2009.
Subban, 20, played his first two NHL games on February 12th and February 13th against the Philadelphia Flyers and earned an assist in each game, his first NHL points. The 6-foot, 206-pound defenceman has played in 52 games with the Bulldogs this season, ranking third on the team in points with 39 (11 goals, 28 assists) and first on the team in plus/minus with a rating of +29. Subban has scored seven goals on the power play and currently ranks third amongst AHL defencemen in points. The Toronto, Ontario native was named to the 2010 Canadian Team for the AHL All-Star game and tallied the game-winning goal in the shootout. Subban was drafted by Montreal in the 2nd round, 43rd overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Lacroix, 22, played in 20 games with the Bulldogs this season earning one assist and two penalty minutes. In 25 games with the Cyclones in 2009-2010, the 6-foot, 190-pound left winger has posted 19 points (13 goals, six assists). The native of Quebec City, Quebec recorded 64 points (33 goals, 31 assists) in 63 regular season games with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL where he won the Kelly Cup Championship with the club. Lacroix was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 5th round, 127th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
The 'Dogs will host the Texas Stars on Tuesday, February 16th at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
