Hurricanes Reassign Three Players To Albany

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, yesterday announced that the team has reassigned forwards Zach Boychuk and Steven Goertzen, and goaltender Justin Peters to Albany of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Peters saw his first on-ice action during this recall, earning victories against the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils in his first two NHL starts. The 23-year-old netminder was 2-0 with a 1.51 goals-against average and.950 save percentage in his first two NHL starts.

Boychuk, 20, was recalled from Albany on Saturday and scored his first NHL goal that night against New Jersey's Martin Brodeur. The Airdrie, Alb., native has four points (1g, 3a) in 12 games with the Hurricanes this season, including points in each of his last three NHL games.

Goertzen completes his first recall with the Hurricanes. The 25-year-old averaged 7:44 of ice time per game in seven games for Carolina. In 69 career NHL games with Columbus, Phoenix and Carolina, Goertzen has earned four points (2g, 2a). Albany kicks off a five game week on Monday at 5:00 p.m. against the Norfolk Admirals at the Times Union Center.
