
Monarchs Home Opener Set for October 16

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, will open their 10th season home schedule on Saturday, October 16 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. In addition, Manchester is scheduled to play their first school day game in team history on Wednesday, November 17 at 11 a.m. and will continue with their traditional New Year's Eve game on Friday, December 31. The entire 2010-11 Monarchs schedule, including their opponents, will be announced later this summer. Individual tickets for games during the 10th season will go on sale following the release of the full schedule.
The Monarchs Home Opener on Saturday, October 16 will mark the team's historic 10th season in New Hampshire. The Kings brought their AHL affiliate to Manchester in 2000 and dropped the first puck in the Verizon Wireless Arena on November 16, 2001. Over the first nine seasons, the Monarchs have collected a record of 5-4-0-0 in their Home Opener.
The school day game on Wednesday, November 17 will incorporate Monarchs hockey into that day's math, history, English and science lessons for students throughout New Hampshire. Through a school field trip, students will attend the game at 11 a.m. and will have a workbook to fill out as the game is being played.
The annual New Year's Eve celebration brings the largest indoor fireworks show in New Hampshire to Manchester. A fun-filled night full of games and T-shirt tosses in between exciting ice hockey action entertains everyone in the family. Following the game, fans can stay for one of the best fireworks shows in New England.
