
Lightning Re-Sign Mitch Fritz

TAMPA BAY, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have signed forward Mitch Fritz to a one-year, two-way contract, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Fritz, a 6-foot-7, 242-pound forward from Osoyoos, British Columbia, appeared in 73 games with the Admirals last season, scoring two goals and six points with a team-leading 157 penalty minutes.
Fritz has appeared in 343 career American Hockey League games between the Norfolk Admirals, Lowell Lock Monsters, Hamilton Bulldogs, Saint John Flames, Milwaukee Admirals, Worcester IceCats, Springfield Falcons, Hartford Wolf Pack and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In those games, he has recorded 13 goals and 32 points with 918 penalty minutes. Fritz won the 2005-06 American Hockey League Yanick Dupree Memorial Award as AHL Man of the Year for community involvement.
Fritz made his NHL debut with the New York Islanders in 2008-09, appearing in 20 games with 42 penalty minutes.
The 30-year-old veteran of ten professional seasons played in his 500thprofessional game on December 5 at Hershey. In 547 pro games, Fritz has scored 26 goals and 68 points with 1,616 penalty minutes.
Fritz, who was undrafted, played his junior hockey with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL, appearing in 110 games.
