February 3, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs head to Reading for the first time this season, bringing a 2-1-0-0 record against the Royals with them. Over the three-game series played in December, the Monarchs took the bookend games by a combined score of 7-4.
Justin Crandall leads all Royals with four points against the Monarchs, with Matt Leitner leading the way for the Monarchs with four points against Reading.
WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs enter tonight's game in sole possession of first place in the East Division with 61 points, five clear of the Adirondack Thunder, and 14 points better than Reading. The Monarchs also hold a virtual tie with the Florida Everblades for Eastern Conference supremacy, with Florida taking the top spot by virtue of a higher winning percentage.
FIRE AWAY! -The Monarchs enter the week with 22 victories when outshooting their opponent, 2nd in the ECHL in this category to the Missouri Mavericks who have 23 such victories. The Monarchs are averaging a league high 35.29 shots per game and hold a 22-4-1-4 record when outshooting their opponent.
Reading comes into tonight's game with an 11-14-2-1 record when outshooting their opponent, and a 7-3-2-2 record when being outshot.
EN FUEGO - Heading into tonight's game, Joey Diamond and Danick Paquette continue to have hot hands. Diamond is riding an eight-game point streak (3g, 7a), good for 2nd in the ECHL among active streaks, chipping in 37 shots on net and a +5 rating. Paquette is carrying a seven-game point streak (3g, 4a) since returning from suspension, adding 18 shots and a +5 rating.
Doug Carr has not lost a game in regulation since Dec. 13, posting a 5-0-0-3 record in that time frame.
TEAM STREAKS - The Monarchs begin the week with the most road wins in the Eastern Conference (16), and second most in the ECHL. Manchester is currently on a six-game point-streak on the road (6-0-0-0), setting the current record in the ECHL. The point-streak marks the second extended road point-streak of the season, as the team grabbed points in eight-straight games Nov. 26-Dec. 18.
On the flip side, Reading has lost three-straight games at home, setting the current high in the ECHL.
ROOKIE PARTY- Matt Leitner and Justin Crandall lead the Monarchs and Royals respectively in points, and are both skating in the ECHL as rookies. Crandall currently leads all first-year players, notching 43 points, with Leitner on his heels at 40 points. Crandall and Leitner are first and second in assists for rookies as well, and sit in seventh and tenth overall in the ECHL in scoring.
NOT MUCH AFTER 2 - Manchester and Reading are a combined 32-0-2-1 when leading after two periods, with Manchester grabbing 17 of the victories when playing from ahead, so taking the lead into the 3rd period is crucial tonight. Manchester does however lead the ECHL with seven wins when trailing after two periods.
KITSY ON THE LOOSE - Maxim Kitsyn is playing arguably his best hockey in North America. Kitsyn has scored points in 10 of his last 11 games (5g, 8a), adding 44 shots and a +11 rating. Kitsyn is also riding a seven-game road point streak, the 4th longest active streak in the ECHL.
