February 3, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, have acquired goaltender Jacob Deserres from the Colorado Eagles in exchange for future considerations.
Deserres, 25, has appeared in 12 games in the ECHL over the past two seasons with the Eagles, including during 2015-16. Deserres is 2-6-1 with a .876 save percentage and a 2.87 goals against average this season, highlighted by a 19-save shutout against Rapid City on October 28. The Calgary, ALTA native made his professional debut a season ago with Colorado, when he turned aside 53 of the 57 shots he faced in two starts, good for a .930 save percentage and a 1.94 goals against average.
Originally drafted 84th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Deserres had two AHL stints last season with the San Antonio Rampage and Adirondack Flames. Deserres made his AHL debut with Adirondack on April 7 against Toronto as he stopped 13-of-16 shots in relief of Doug Carr.
Prior to his professional career, Deserres skated for three seasons with the University of Calgary in the CWUAA and five years in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds from 2005-2010, in addition to one QMJHL season with the Saint John Sea Dogs, where he won the Memorial Cup. Deserres finished his senior season in Calgary with a 2.07 goals against average (GAA) and a .920 save percentage.
Deserres posted a 2.22 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in 30 regular season games with Saint John. On his run to the 2011 Memorial Cup Championship, Deserres posted a 2.00 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 16 playoff games, highlighted by a 1.82 GAA and a .946 save percentage in three Memorial Cup Games, in addition to a tournament high three victories.
