Toledo's Berschbach Named CCM ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Toledo Walleye forward Shane Berschbach has been named the CCM ECHL?Player of the Month for January.

Berschbach scored eight goals, added 12 assists and was a +11 in 12 games in January, helping the Walleye to a 10-2-0 record during the month.

The 24-year-old scored at least one point in 11 of his 12 games in the month, and had seven multi-point games. He tallied four points (2g-2a) in a 5-1 win against Evansville on Jan. 15 and had a three-point game (2g-1a) in a 4-2 victory at Reading on Jan. 9. He ended January with two-point games in four of the final five games of the month.

A?native of Clawson, Mich., Berschbach is tied for ninth in the ECHL with 40 points (14g-26a) in 37 games with the Walleye this season.

Berschbach has recorded 105 points (30g-75a) in 105 career ECHL games with Toledo and Kalamazoo. He has also seen action in five games with Grand Rapids of the American?Hockey League.

Prior to turning pro,?Berschbach played four seasons at Western Michigan University where he had 117 points (39g-156a) in 146 career games.
