Toledo, OH - Forward Shane Berschbach has been named CCM ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Toledo's top point producer boosted his team best totals with 20 points (8G, 12A) and +11 over twelve games during the month helping the Walleye to a 10-2-0 record. He had at least one point in 11 of the 12 games including seven multi-point performances, plus he tied a Toledo Walleye record with at least a point in ten consecutive contests that started January 2 and lasted until January 30 vs. Fort Wayne. Berschbach's 40 points (14G, 26A) leads Toledo in scoring this season.

"We had a stellar month with a lot of roster turnover but the one constant has been Berschbach," said Head Coach Derek Lalonde. "His play continues to reach an elite level as evident by his success in January."

Berschbach, a native of Royal Oak, Michigan, spent the majority of last season in Toledo setting a new single season Walleye record with 48 assists. He also added 15 goals for a total of 63 points in 65 games during the 2014-15 season, which was second on the team in scoring. In 21 playoff contests, Berschbach led the Walleye in scoring with 25 points (8G, 17A). He also appeared in five games with Grand Rapids in the AHL with no points.

The 24-year-old spent four years at Western Michigan University prior to turning professional. As a Bronco, Berschbach posted 39 goals and 78 assists as was a plus 27 in 146 games. He set career highs as a senior with 16 goals, 22 assists and 38 points. In 2012, he helped Western Michigan to a CCHA Tournament Championship.
