Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Michael Houser was assigned to Manchester by the Ontario Reign (AHL), Taran Kozun has been recalled by Ontario, Anthony Pisano has been released, Tyler Gjurich has been released and assigned to the Danbury Titans (FHL) and Rob Lemelin has been released as the Emergency Backup Goaltender.

Houser, 23, played in 11 games for the Monarchs to begin the season, posting an 8-3-0-0 record, a 2.63 GAA and a 0.913 save percentage before getting called to Ontario on November 12. With the Reign, Houser played in four games with a 1-3-0-0 record, a 2.56 GAA and a 0.880 save percentage.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound goaltender split time between the ECHL and AHL since the 2013-14 season, playing with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Monarchs in the ECHL, and the San Antonio Rampage and Reign in the AHL. In his career, Houser has played in 69 AHL games, posting a 32-25-5 record.

Kozun, 21, makes his way to the Reign after being traded for future considerations March 1 by the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL). Kozun played in nine games this season for the Grizzlies, posting a 4-3-0-0 record with a 3.08 AA and a 0.892 save percentage in his first professional season.

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan played parts of five seasons in the WHL, splitting time between the Kamloops Blazers, Nipawin Hawks and Seattle Thunderbirds, playing in a combined 151 games and posting a 64-52-15 record, with his best season coming during the 2014-15 season when he went 33-19-8, with a 2.41 GAA and a 0.915 save percentage. During that season, Kozun won the Del Wilson Trophy as the Top Goaltender in the WHL.

Pisano, 27, played in nine games for the Monarchs this season without recording a point, earning 26 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound forward began the season with the Louisiana IceGators (SPHL), and played in 11 game scoring three points on three assists, while logging 72 penalty minutes.

Gjurich, 23, played in two games for the Monarchs after being signed Feb. 26. from the Danbury Titans, and scoring one point on an assist in the Monarchs 5-4 victory over the Norfolk Admirals on Feb. 27. Before signing with the Monarchs, Gjurich played 35 games in Danbury, scoring 74 points on 40 goals and 34 assists. Gjurich also played in five ECHL games this season, splitting time between the Quad City Mallards and Elmira Jackals, where he scored three points on three assists.

Lemelin, 33, did not play in a game after signing with the Monarchs on March 1 as the emergency backup goaltender.

Houser and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Mar. 4 (7 p.m.) when they host the Orlando Solar Bears for the start of a three-game series with their East Division rivals. The Monarchs will be hosting the Goodwill Clothing Drive, and ask all fans to bring lightly used or new clothing to donate to those in need.
