Jackals Acquire Goaltender Shane Owen from Indy

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Shane Owen from the Indy Fuel in exchange for defenseman Kevin Clare, forward Mike Seidel and future considerations.

Owen, 25, joins the Jackals with 13 wins, a 2.55 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage in 34 games with the Fuel this season. The sixth-year pro posted career-best numbers last season after joining Indy from the Stockton Thunder. He recorded a 2.27 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage in 17 games for the Fuel. In 183 professional games, Owen has a record of 84-73-13 with a 2.85 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro, the Markham, Ontario native played four seasons in Canadian Major Junior Hockey, two and a half with the Erie Otters (OHL) and one and a half with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL). He led the Wildcats to the 2010 Presidents Cup as champions of the QMJHL, posting a 14-3-0 record in 18 games for Moncton, with a 2.12 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage.
