Walleye Start Set with 3-2 Win in Florida

(Estero, FLA) Jeff Lerg had 20 saves in the first period and the Walleye took down the Everblades in Florida 3-2 on Wednesday night. Toledo has an overall record of 36-14-2-3 and 14-9-2-2 on the road. Toledo has won six straight games overall.

Despite Florida out shooting the Walleye 20-5 in the first period, Toledo held a 1-0 lead. At 8:20 of the first period, Tyler Sikura (12th) cut in front of the Florida net and wristed a shot over Everblades goaltender Anthony Peters.

Florida tied the game early in the second period before A.J. Jenks deflected a blue line shot from Scott Czarnowczan at 5:29 for a 2-1 Walleye lead. The 22nd goal of the year for Jenks came on the power play. The Everblades would even the score at 12:51 of the frame.

Scott Czarnowczan gave the Walleye a 3-2 lead with a wrist shot at 6:16 of the third period. The fifth goal of the season for Czarnowczan was the game winner.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg finished the game with 37 saves on 39 shots and his record is 23-6-1-2 on the season. The win snapped a four game road winless skid (0-3-1).
