Monarchs Announce 2014-15 Schedule

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, will open the 2014-15 season with a three-game road trip before they return home for their Opening Weekend, presented by AutoFair, when they host the Portland Pirates in the first game of the 12-game VIP Cup Series at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, and a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Providence Bruins on Saturday, October 25, both games at the Verizon Wireless Arena, the American Hockey League and Monarchs President Darren Abbott announced on Wednesday. Individual tickets for the 2014-15 season will go on sale to the public on Wednesday, October 1 at 9:30 a.m. and can be purchased by logging onto www.manchestermonarchs.com, by visiting the Verizon Wireless Arena Box Office, or through Ticketmaster.
The Monarchs will open their 14th AHL season with three road games starting with a game at 4:05 p.m. against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza on Sunday, October 12. The Monarchs will then travel to the Norfolk Scope for back-to-back games against the Norfolk Admirals with a 7:30 p.m. contest on Friday, October 17, and then the two teams will have a rematch at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 18. The Monarchs home season will open with a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Pirates on Friday, October 24, followed by a face-off with the Bruins on Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. The two games during Opening Weekend, presented by AutoFair, will be played at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
The start times for all Monarchs home games Monday through Saturday for the 2014-15 season will be 7:00 p.m. except on Wednesday, November 19 against the Worcester Sharks when the fifth annual Education Day game will begin at 10:00 a.m. The puck will drop at 3:00 p.m. for all home games on Sundays this season, as well as games against the Bruins on Saturday, December 27, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, February 14, and the Penguins on Saturday, March 7.
The Monarchs 76-game schedule includes 38 games at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The Monarchs will meet 13 of their 14 Eastern Conference rivals during the 2014-15 season. Manchester will play 46 of the 76-game season against teams in the Atlantic Division, which includes Worcester, Portland, Providence, and the St. John's IceCaps. The Monarchs will play Portland, Providence, and Worcester 12 times (six home and six road games), and St. John's 10 times (five home and five road games).
The Monarchs will play 14 games this season against teams in the Eastern Conference's Northeast Division including the Albany Devils, Hartford Wolf Pack, Springfield Falcons, and Bridgeport. Manchester will play Albany twice (one home and one road game), and Hartford, Springfield, and Bridgeport four times (two home and two road games). The Monarchs will also play 16 games against the Eastern Conference's East Division including the Binghamton Senators, Hershey Bears, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Norfolk, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Monarchs will play Hershey, Norfolk, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton four times (two home and two road games), and Binghamton and Lehigh Valley twice (one home and one road game).
