Amerks Announce 2014-15 Regular Season Schedule

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today their schedule for the 2014-15 American Hockey League regular season. The Amerks will open their 59th AHL season - and 33rd as the affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres - at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10 versus the Adirondack Flames at The Blue Cross Arena.

All AHL teams will again play a 76-game regular season schedule, including 38 home games and 38 road games. Head Coach Chadd Cassidy and the Amerks will play 30 of their 38 home games on weekends, with 19 Friday home games, eight Saturday home dates and three Sunday home outings. The team will also host seven games on Wednesdays and one Monday game.

The start times for Amerk home games will stay consistent with last season. All home games will start at 7:05 p.m., with the exception of the three Sunday games (Feb. 22 vs. Syracuse at 5:05 p.m.; Mar. 22 vs. Utica at 3:05 p.m.; Mar. 29 vs. Toronto at 3:05 p.m.), the two weekday holiday games that will start at 3:05 p.m. (Veterans Day - Monday, Nov. 10 vs. Adirondack; New Year's Eve - Wednesday, Dec. 31 vs. Syracuse) and a game on Saturday, Dec. 13 vs. Hamilton that will begin at 7:35 p.m. to accommodate a prior event at The Blue Cross Arena.

The Amerks, who will remain in the North Division of the Western Conference, will play 15 of the AHL's other 29 teams over the course of the 2014-15 season. While Rochester will once again be joined in the North Division by the Hamilton Bulldogs, Toronto Marlies and Utica Comets, the new Adirondack Flames franchise will replace the Lake Erie Monsters as members of the North this season. As for divisional play, the Amerks will face Adirondack 12 times (six home, six road) and Hamilton, Toronto and Utica 10 times each (five home, five road).

In addition to squaring off with its North Division rivals a total of 42 times, Rochester will also play against Syracuse eight times (four home, four road), Binghamton, Grand Rapids and Lake Erie four times apiece (two home, two road), and twice each (one home, one road) versus Chicago, Iowa, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Rockford, San Antonio and Texas. A total of 64 of Rochester's 76 games will be played against Western Conference opponents.

For the third straight year, the Amerks will host a game at Buffalo's First Niagara Center when they face-off against Hamilton on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7:05 p.m. In addition, the Amerks will be back home for the holidays this season after traveling to Switzerland for the Spengler Cup in late December last year. Among their eight home games in December are back-to-back games on Friday, Dec. 26 (vs. Lake Erie) and Saturday, Dec. 27 (vs. Toronto) as well as a 3:05 p.m. game on New Year's Eve (Wednesday, Dec. 31) vs. Syracuse.

Other home games of interest and annual promotional dates include the "Sweets in the Suites" Halloween game on Friday, Oct. 24 vs. Adirondack; a Veterans Day matinee against Adirondack on Monday, Nov. 10 at 3:05 p.m.; games against Grand Rapids the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, Nov. 26) as well as Black Friday (Friday, Nov. 28); the first game of 2015 on Friday, Jan. 2 against Iowa; the Kid's Day game against Syracuse on Sunday, Feb. 22; Irish Night on Friday, Mar. 13 when the Amerks host Hamilton; the Pucks & Paws game on Sunday, Mar. 22 vs. Utica; and Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, Apr. 17.

Rochester's longest homestand of the 2014-15 campaign is an eight-game stretch that begins on Saturday, Dec. 13, goes through the holidays, and concludes Friday, Jan. 2. The longest string of road games is also eight games, beginning Saturday, Jan. 24 and concluding Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The Amerks' busiest months of the season will be November and February as the team is slated to play 13 games in each of those months. November and December will offer the heaviest home schedules, with the Amerks at The Blue Cross Arena eight times in each of those months. Rochester has a total of seven "three-in-three" situations on the docket.
