SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch will open their 21st American Hockey League campaign Oct. 11 with a home game against Northeast Division rival Springfield. The complete 76-game schedule is attached.
The Crunch have opened the season at the War Memorial 10 times in the club's 21-year history but have not opened the season at home since the 2005-06 season. The Crunch will kick off the 2014-15 season with a four-game homestand, the longest of the season. The Crunch's longest road trip will span five games from Dec. 28 and Jan. 9.
Syracuse will play 35 of its 38 home games on either a Friday (19) or Saturday (16). Additionally, the Crunch will play one home game on Sunday and two on Wednesdays.
November will be the Crunch's busiest month of the season with 13 games including eight road contests, four games at the War Memorial and the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic at the Carrier Dome. The team will play eight games in October, 12 in December and February, 11 in January and March, and nine in April.
The Crunch will face 14 opponents from four divisions during the 2014-15 season. Rochester and Binghamton join the Crunch's division rivals, Albany, Bridgeport, Hartford and Springfield as the club's most frequent opponent with eight games each. The Crunch will play 32 of their 76 games against Northeast Division opponents (Albany 8, Bridgeport 8, Hartford 8 and Springfield 8). Syracuse has 22 contests against the East Division (Binghamton 8, Hershey 4, Norfolk 4, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 and Lehigh Valley 2) and 18 games against the Western Conference's North Division (Adirondack 4, Rochester 8, and Utica 6).
The 2014-15 season is highlighted by the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic on Saturday, Nov. 22 against the Utica Comets. The game will be the first professional hockey game held in Syracuse University's iconic Carrier Dome. Tickets to the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic are on sale now and range in price from $20 to $50. Discount ticket prices are available for groups of 15 or more people.
