Miners Lose Road Opener

Evansville, IN - The Miners lose a tough one in Evansville 6-1. For the second night in a row, the bats failed to get things going. The Miners managed seven hits but left nine runners on base. The only run for the Miners was in the top of the eighth were Matt Fields hit a one out double off Otters reliever Adam Champion to make it a 4-1 ballgame.

Miners starter Thomas Campbell threw three innings and allowed two runs. The first inning, Campbell hit three batters as he struggled with with his command. He gave up a solo home run to catcher Steven Garcia in the bottom of the second inning which gave the Otters a two run lead.

Darrin Tew threw four innings in relief. In the bottom of the seventh up 2-1, Otters center fielder Matt Sheely hit a two run, two out double to give the Otters a 4-1 lead. Casey Fry also threw an inning and allowed two runs as designated hitter Brett Chamberlain hit a two run single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.
