Miners Bounce Back with Win over Otters

Evansville, IN - The Southern Illinois Miners defeated the Evansville Otters today 3-2. Starter Brian Fowler threw four innings of four hit ball and struck out two, while walking three. Evansville starter Matt Zielinski pitched great as he threw eight innings, only allowing three hits despite giving up three runs.

The Miners struck first in the top of the fourth with a two run home run by shorst stop Jake Kaase. That home run was Kaase's first of the 2012 season, the Miners second home run all-together. The Miners came right back in the top of the sixth and scored a run via a Matt Fields RBI ground out.

Ian Campbell threw 2.1 innings in relief and allowed two runs. The Otters scored both of the runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Campbell left after walking Matt Sheely to put runners on first and second. Albert Ayala came on in relief and gave up a sacrifice fly and a two out RBI double by Frank Martinez.

Ryan Quigley threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth. Max Peterson saved the game in the bottom of the ninth.
