(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder (4-6) split a doubleheader Sunday with the Harrisburg Senators (4-6), winning Game 1 8-0 and losing Game 2 8-2. In Game 1, Thunder starter and former Major League pitcher Kevin Millwood was four outs from a no-hitter, surrendering his first hit with two outs in the sixth. Millwood would retire the next four Senator batters to finish the game with the complete game shutout in the seven inning contest.

Despite not allowing a run, Millwood was given ample run support by the Thunder offense, who picked-up where they left off Friday evening by scoring early and often against Harrisburg. Bradley Suttle knocked in three runs in the first inning on a bases-clearing triple and Austin Krum and Austin Romine both had two-run base hits in the second, extending the Thunder lead to 7-0.

Millwood, who has played with five Major League teams, would have only needed one run to support him as he was dominant in his first appearance in the Yankees' system after signing a minor league deal in March. The North Carolina native would strike out three and walk four in seven impressive innings.

Game 2 produced a different outcome for the Thunder, who faced Senator starter Brad Peacock that was in a groove of his own. Peacock dominated the Thunder in his five innings as he only allowed one earned run and struck out nine Thunder hitters. Harrisburg's bats finally awoke in the second game as they scored eight runs on 12 hits against Thunder pitching.

The Thunder will open a three-game set with the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) Monday night at Waterfront Park. Ewing native and Thunder LHP Steve Garrison (0-1, 6.14) will deliver the first pitch at 7:05 PM and will oppose LHP Ryan Verdugo (1-0, 3.60) for Richmond. T

une-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR-FM and on trentonthunder.com. The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Jay Burnham and Hank Fuerst begins at 6:45 PM on the Trenton Thunder Radio Network.
