Aeros Drop Game One of Doubleheader, 5-1

READING, PA - The Akron Aeros dropped game one of a doubleheader to the Reading Phillies 5-2 Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Left-handed pitcher Matt Packer suffered the loss pitching five innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits, allowing two home runs and striking out two.

J.C. Ramirez picked up his second win of the season for the R-Phils pitching 6.1 innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits, walking two and striking out one. Chance Chapman recorded his first save of the season for Reading.

The R-Phils (7-3) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Freddy Galvis stole home to make it 1-0.

The Aeros (5-5) evened things up in the top of the third inning on a Matt Lawson solo home run to center field.

The R-Phils retook the lead on a two-run home run from Cody Overbeck in the bottom of the fourth inning. In the fifth, Harold Garcia added a two-run home run to make 5-1.

The Aeros got a run in the top of the seventh inning, but fell short in game one of the doubleheader.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Aeros will give the ball to left-handed pitcher Eric Berger, who will be making a spot start. He will be opposite right-hander Josh Zeid.
