
D'Arnaud Goes 2-For-4 But Fisher Cats Fall to Mets 4-1 Sunday

(Binghamton, NY)---Travis d'Arnaud went 2-for-4 and Mark Sobolewski had an RBI single, but the Fisher Cats could not complete a three-game sweep, falling 4-1 to Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium.
In the top of the second inning, d'Arnaud singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Adam Calderone walked and Sobolewski delivered an RBI single to put New Hampshire up 1-0.
The Mets tied the game in the bottom of the second when Mike Fisher homered off Fisher Cats starter Joel Carreno.
Carreno (0-2) yielded two more home runs before leaving the game. Jordany Valdespin led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to make it 2-1. Jesus Feliciano singled and Josh Satin homered, also in the fifth inning, to extend Binghamton's lead to 4-1.
Carreno worked the first 5.0 innings, allowing 4 ER on 6 hits. He walked two and struck out two. Mets starter Robert Carson (1-1) picked up the win, allowing one run on four hits in five innings.
The bullpens for both teams worked scoreless relief---Vince Perkins, Clint Everts and Dumas Garcia each worked a scoreless inning for New Hampshire. Edgar Ramirez, Roy Merritt and John Lujan combined for four scoreless frames for the Mets. Lujan earned his second save with a perfect ninth inning.
The Mets came into the game ranked second in the Eastern League with 12 stolen bases, but were unsuccessful twice in the game. d'Arnaud gunned down Jesus Feliciano and Brahiam Maldanado and has now caught 5-of -11 runners trying to steal against him on the season.
The Fisher Cats continue the first roadtrip of the season on Monday night in New Britain. RHP David Bromberg (1-0, 2.70) is the scheduled starter for the Rock Cats against New Hampshire RHP Zach Stewart (0-1, 4.50). Game time is 6:35pm and radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins at 6:15 on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
