READING, PA - Matt Langwell gave up a game winning RBI single to Michael Spidale in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Akron Aeros fell to the Reading Phillies 5-4 in game two of a doubleheader Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

With the loss, the Aeros (5-6) lost both seven-inning contests.

Langwell was saddled with the loss pitching 0.2 innings and giving up the Spidale RBI single.

R-Phils reliever Justin De Fratus got the win pitching two scoreless innings, scattering two hits, walking three and striking out two.

The Aeros got on the board in the top of the first inning. Jordan Henry led off the game with a single and then stole second. Tim Fedroff followed with a walk. With two on and no one out, John Drennen hit a three-run home run to center field. Later in the frame, Kyle Bellows doubled and advanced to third on a Donnie Webb single. Bellows later scored on a Cristo Arnal RBI groundout to make it 4-0.

The R-Phils (8-3) answered back in the bottom of the first inning as Cody Overbeck hit a three-run home run off Aeros starter Eric Berger, which cut the Akron lead to 4-3. Overbeck's home run was his second of the doubleheader and fifth of the season.

After a rough first, Berger settled in and went on to pitch three innings giving up three earned runs on three hits, striking out three and walking one.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Derrick Mitchell hit a solo home run to left field for Reading to tie the game 4-4.

The game remained tied until the extra frame. Mitchell started the inning with a single. Fidel Hernandez sacrificed him to second. Following a fly out, Spidale drove in Mitchell on a single to center field as the R-Phils won three games of this four-game series.

The Aeros will continue their road trip as they begin a three-game series with the Bowie Baysox Monday at Prince George's Stadium. The Aeros will give the ball to lefty Kelvin De La Cruz. De La Cruz is 0-2 in 2011, but has 0.90 ERA. He will face right-handed pitcher Zach Clark, who is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA on the season.
