Frisco RoughRiders News Release

Midland blasted two home runs in a 7-2 win over the RoughRiders on Wednesday night. Frisco starter Richard Bleier pitched seven innings, but suffered his eighth loss of the season.

RockHounds left fielder Archie Gilbert broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI double to give Midland a 1-0 lead. Second baseman Jemile Weeks pushed the lead to 2-0 with a sacrifice fly. Designated hitter Alex Valdez gave the RockHounds a 4-1 lead in the top of sixth inning with a two-run home run to left field.

But Frisco would answer with a run in the bottom of the fifth, as third baseman Jonathan Greene belted a solo homer to cut the deficit to 2-1. But that was as close as Frisco would get the rest of the game. Center fielder James Tomlin recorded his third straight multi-hit game, going 2-4 on the night.

Bleier (6-8) allowed five runs on eight hits over seven innings, taking the loss. He walked none and he tied his season-high for strikeouts with six.

Frisco (58-50) has lost nine out of its last ten games and trails Midland (57-52) by two games in the second half standings. The two clubs will play the finale of a three-game series at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Thursday night. LHP Ben Snyder (2-4, 3.21) will be on the hill for the 'Riders, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM.
