Mets Sign Emaus, Lewis and Assign Both to Bisons

The New York Mets today announced the team signed INF BRAD EMAUS and OF FRED LEWIS to minor league contracts and assigned both to the Bisons roster.

Emaus, 26, had signed to start 2012 with the Laredo Lemurs of the American Association before joining New York. He appeared in 14 games with the Mets in 2011, hitting .162 (6-37). The 6-0, 205-pound native of Kalamazoo, MI, also appeared in 45 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs of the Pacific Coast League last season, hitting .313 (51-163) for Colorado's Triple-A club. A career .280 (482-1722) hitter at the minor league level, Emaus spent time with Boston in this spring before being released.

Lewis, 31, went to Spring Training this season with Cleveland and hit .200 (3-15) in nine games. He appeared in 81 games with Cincinnati last season, hitting .230 (42-183) with three home runs and 19RBI. The 6-2, 200-pound native of Hattiesburg, MS, is a career .267 (412-1542) hitter in 517 games at the major league level.
