Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The Pawtucket Red Sox failed in their bid to set a franchise record for consecutive wins on Wednesday, falling to the Yankees, 8-6. The PawSox jumped out to a 5-0 lead as Mauro Gomez hammered a two run homer in the first and Daniel Nava and Will Middlebrooks both homered in the fourth. The Yankees chipped away all game long, and scored 4 runs in the ninth. Francisco Cervelli had what proved to be the game winning hit. The PawSox got one back in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Nava.
Garrett Mock was the loser, allowing 4 runs in two thirds of an inning. Both Andrew Miller and Rich Hil continued their respective rehab assignments, with a scoreless inning of relief apiece.
The PawSox will have Thursday off, before embarking on a ten game, 3 city road trip that begins Friday in Columbus, Ohio.
