
Mets Offense Too Much Late on Saturday

The SeaWolves five-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park as they dropped the second game of a four-game series to the Binghamton Mets 9-3.
Binghamton struck in the top of the third against Erie spot starter Ryan Robowski. Kai Gronauer belted a solo home run with one out for a 1-0 lead. With two outs, Dilson Herrera, Brian Burgamy and Dustin Lawley each singled, plating a run for a 2-0 lead.
The Mets extended their lead in the top of the fourth when Jayce Boyd homered to left for a 3-0 advantage.
Erie cut into the Mets lead in the fourth against starter Cory Mazzoni. With two outs, Devon Travis and Ramon Cabrera each walked putting a pair on for Corey Jones. Jones doubled home a pair off the wall in right, making it 3-2.
In the fifth, Francisco Martinez singled and stole second, putting the tying run in scoring position. With two outs, Marcus Lemon laced a single into right, plating Martinez, tying the game at 3-3.
Binghamton quickly regained the lead in the top of the sixth against reliever Slade Smith. Darrell Ceciliani singled with one out and moved to third on a Boyd knock. Travis Taijeron singled home Ceciliani for a 4-3 lead. The Mets would not trail the rest of the game.
In the ninth, Binghamton put the game out of reach against reliever Jose Valdez. Brandon Nimmo doubled and Herrera walked with one out putting two on for Brian Burgamy. Burgamy singled home Nimmo for a 5-3 lead. T.J. Rivera followed with a single, loading the bases for Ceciliani. Ceciliani singled home Burgamy and on an error, Lawley scored making it 7-3. Boyd capped the night's scoring when he singled home Rivera and Ceciliani making it 9-3.
Smith (2-3) took the loss allowing a run on four hits with a walk and a strikeout in three innings.
