Mendoza named MWL Pitcher of the Week

The Midwest League, along with Baseball Advanced Media (BAM), announced that Kernels pitcher Tommy Mendoza has been named the MWL Pitcher of the Week for the period ending July 2nd.

Mendoza was 1-0 with a 0.56 ERA in two games. He pitched 16 innings and allowed 2 runs (one earned) walked only three and struck out 13. He had a no-decision at Burhlington on June 26 where he struck out nine and allowed one run and three hits over eight innings.

Then on July 1st, he picked up his fifth win as he allowed an unearned run on three hits in eight innings of work as the Kernels beat Dayton, 7-2.
