
Memphis rallies by Nashville

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis used a seventh inning rally to beat Nashville 3-2 Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.
The Redbirds trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the seventh. Jarrett Hoffpauir led off with a double and scored on Rico Washington's single to center field to tie the game. After a Brian Barden single put runners on first and second Joe Mather came through with a single to left to score Washington. The bullpen took it from there with Mark Worrell and Kelvin Jimenez each tossing one scoreless inning apiece. Jimenez picked up his team-best sixth save. Nick Stavinoha, David Freese and Bryan Anderson all had two hits to lead the âBirds.
Ben Howard took the loss in relief for Nashville giving up two runs on four hits in 1.1 innings. Starter Mark DiFelice pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits. Seven Memphis pitchers combined to scatter four Nashville hits and fan eight. Anthony Reyes started the game for the Redbirds on a major league rehab assignment and gave up one run on one hit in 2.1 innings. The right-hander threw 47 pitches, 27 strikes. Ron Flores earned the win with one inning of spotless relief.
Memphis wraps up their homestand and four-game series tomorrow night against Nashville. Clayton Mortensen gets the ball for the âBirds and will face left-hander Lindsay Gulin. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with a fireworks show scheduled following the game.
