Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies return home from the road on July 4th to kick off a seven-game homestand against the rival Sacramento River Cats and Portland Beavers. The Independence Day weekend is loaded with special events and not one, but two special jerseys will be unveiled by the Grizzlies.

In what has become a Fresno tradition, the Grizzlies will kick off the homestand with an Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza at Chukchansi Park. Fresno has played at home every July 4th since the franchise's inception in 1998 and has traditionally welcomed one of the largest crowd's of the year for the holiday event. Like all Friday's at the Park, July 4th is an Orange-Out Friday, where the first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a free Orange-Out t-shirt, courtesy of Rally's.

During the game fans will be treated to a patriotic performance by the Drag Kings, Minor League Baseball's premier, infield-dragging dance crew, and following the game the skies over Chukchansi Park will be lit up by an Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza thanks to Bingham Toyota and ABC 30.

The fun and excitement continues on Saturday, July 5th when the Grizzlies host Military Appreciation Night, presented by Chukchansi Gold Resort and KMJ580. Veterans and active military personnel will receive free admission by presenting a military ID at the box office. The home team will wear special American flag theme jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game to benefit the VA Central California Health Centers. To help celebrate the holiday weekend, Saturday's game against Sacramento will also be followed by a special fireworks show thanks to Chukchansi Gold Resort.

Save Mart Sunday, July 6th will wrap up a short three-game series against the rival Sacramento River Cats, and the first Chukchansi Park chapter of the Highway 99 Showdown Series. To celebrate the relationship between the two teams, and their big league affiliates, both the Grizzlies and River Cats will wear throwback jerseys of their parent clubs in a ‘Throwback Throwdown' presented by The Valley Air District. The Grizzlies will be dressed in orange Giants jerseys from the 1970's, while the River Cats will wear classic, green A's jerseys. The jerseys, which will be worn again in August at Chukchansi Park, will be auctioned off later in the season.

Like all Sunday games, July 6th will feature a pre-game autograph session on the concourse with selected Grizzlies players thanks to ABC30, and kids can run the bases on the field following the game thanks to Del Taco. The night will feature Fresno's second post-game movie of the year as well, where fans can bring blankets, sit in the outfield and enjoy a movie on the Chukchansi Park video board. The movie will be chosen by fan vote on FresnoGrizzlies.com.

On Monday, July 8th, when the Grizzlies welcome the Portland Beavers to town, fans can take advantage of the best deal in baseball, the Monday Madness package presented by Wienerschnitzel: Two tickets, two hot dogs, two sodas, and two Island Waterpark passes, all for just $14.

Like all Tuesdays at the Park, July 9th is a Taco Tuesday, presented by 95.7 The Fox, where all tacos, taquitos, churros (all game long), and 16oz Tecate beers (until 8:00pm) are just $2. Wednesday, July 10th is Way Back Wednesday, presented by The Fresno Bee, where kids 12-and-under, seniors (55+), and military personnel (with valid ID) can buy a ticket for just $1.

The seven-game homestand wraps up on Thirsty Thursday, July 10th presented by 104.1 ‘It Just Rocks'. 12oz. Tecate Light beers are available until the 5th inning for just $1, and dollar-sodas are available all night long.

The Grizzlies return home on July 4th to open a series with the rival Sacramento River Cats at 7:05pm. For information regarding tickets, promotions, or Grizzlies baseball visit FresnoGrizzlies.com or call 559.320.HITS.
