Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game homestand with a 9-5 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A, Miami Marlins) on Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
Memphis catcher Nick Raposo broke out in the loss. The right-handed hitter blasted a three-run home run in sixth inning to give the Redbirds a brief 5-4 lead. Raposo went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, a double and three RBIs. The blast marked his second home run of the season.
Right fielder Moises Gomez clubbed his second home run of the year to lead off the second inning. Despite the coldest game at AutoZone Park this season and the wind blowing in from dead center, the teams combined for five home runs on the night.
Starting pitcher Gordon Graceffo gutted through a 40-pitch first inning to toss 5.1 innings. The right-handed pitcher allowed four runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out two. Kyle Leahy (0-2) allowed five runs on five hits and two home runs in 2.0 innings of relief.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to continue a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday, April 26 with first pitch for 11:05 a.m. CDT.
