MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Memphis 901 FC returns to action Saturday night against New York Red Bulls II, the second-place team in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, at 7:30 at AutoZone Park.

901 FC took a tough decision Wednesday night against Nashville SC, leading in nearly every offensive category but being hurt by goals bookending halftime in a 2-0 defeat.

Memphis came out the aggressor and had four tries in the first 12 minutes of the match, with Elliot Collier, Wes Charpie, Dan Metzger, and Adam Najem all getting a good look. 901 FC found the back of the net in its early-going attacking, but a Brandon Allen goal in the 8th minute was waived off in a critical decision.

Once again 901 FC came out of the locker room strong, with a great try in front of the goal by Ewan Grandison stopped by the Nashville keeper. That immediately led to a counter down the field, which resulted in the second Nashville goal.

Memphis and New York played earlier this season in the fourth match of 901 FC's inaugural campaign on the road, which was a 3-2 win for Red Bulls II. Najem opened the scoring in that match in the 11th minute, before New York scored twice before the half. Another New York goal in the 56th minute made it 3-1, before Marc Burch pulled 901 FC within a goal at 3-2 with a 61st minute strike. Since the match against New York earlier this season, Memphis has added key figures to its roster in Allen, Jochen Graf, Lagos Kunga, and Cam Lindley.

901 FC's Allen (2016-17) and Dan Metzger (2015-17) spent multiple seasons with New York Red Bulls II, with both winning the USL Cup in 2016. Allen scored 15 goals in 2016 including a hat-trick in the USL Cup Final en route to Final MVP honors, and he led the league with 19 assists in addition to ranking second with the 15 goals. He was named 2016 USL Rookie of the Year and All-League First Team. Allen scored a total of 24 goals with NYRBII. Metzger appeared in 58 matches for New York, making 49 starts, and he played a key role in Red Bulls II's 2016 championship run.

901 FC goalkeeper Scott Levene played for New York Red Bulls II last season, making four starts and picking up a win and a draw to go along with two losses.

After tomorrow's match, 901 FC remains at AutoZone Park for a Saturday, July 27 showdown with Ottawa Fury FC.
