OKC Heads to Colorado Springs to Take on Rival Switchbacks FC

July 19, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
OKC Energy FC News Release

Energy FC (10th, 6-6-8, 26 points) head west after a 2-3 loss at home to Reno 1868 FC. The Greens went into the halftime break up 2-0 thanks to goals form Jon Brown and Omar Gordon, but an 11-minute span in the second half saw Reno come from behind to take all three points at Taft Stadium.

Up next is a trip to Colorado Springs to face familiar foe Switchbacks FC (17th, 5-12-2, 17 points). Colorado Springs is struggling at the moment with one win and four losses in their last five outings. They are, however, coming off a big win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC on July 13. This will be the second meeting between the sides this season after the 1-0 Energy FC win at Taft Stadium on May 25. That night, Omar Gordon scored off an Alexy Bosetti assist.

The teams have met 12 times since 2015, with OKC winning five, COS winning four and the sides drawing three times. Two of those wins for Energy FC include the famous 2015 Western Conference semifinal penalty shootout at Taft Stadium and the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Third Round at Weidner Field.
