Fraser, MI â The Motor City Mechanics dropped two straight before taking an exciting victory on Sunday night.
Friday, January 28th vs. Fort Wayne Komets 4-1 Loss: The Mechanics jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Captain Blair Manning midway through the first period. Fort Wayne found the back of the net just 23 seconds later and dominated from that point on, netting three more unanswered goals for the 4-1 win. Cory Campbell made his first start in net since December 18th at Missouri (a 3-2 win) and made 36 saves for the Mechanics.
Saturday, January 29th @ Muskegon Fury 5-1 Loss: All-Star defenseman Kevin Hansen scored shorthanded in the second period, the Mechanics lone goal in a 5-1 loss on Saturday night. The defending Colonial Cup Champions Muskegon Fury out shot Motor City 37-16.
Sunday, January 30th vs. Kalamazoo Wings 4-3 WIN: Rookie Matt Hunter opened the scoring at 16:31 of the first period, on assists from Ryan Baker Brandon Fleenor. Less than a minute later, the K-Wings tied the game but Kyle Kos gave the Mechanics a 2-1 advantage in the second period.
Jeff Doyle scored his first goal of the season, boosting Motor City's lead to 3-1 at 10:35 of the third period. Within the next two minutes, Kalamazoo scored twice to tie the game at three. Veteran Joe Burton took advantage of a powerplay opportunity and scored with just 23 seconds remaining in the game to give the Mechanics the 4-3 win. Campbell earned his second victory in goal as a Mechanic, stopping 39 shots.
UP NEXT: On Wednesday, February 2nd, the Mechanics head up to Flint to battle the Generals for the fifth time this season. Back on October 29th, the Mechanics earned their first victory in franchise history against Flint.
Motor City hockey will be at home all weekend beginning Friday, February 4th against the Rockford IceHogs at 7:30 pm. The Mechanics are 1-3-1 against the IceHogs thus far this season. Saturday February 5th at 7:30 pm Motor City hosts the Kalamazoo Wings. In their last meeting, the Mechanics earned a 4-3 victory last night. So far this season, the Mechanics are 1-1-2 against the Wings. On Super Bowl Sunday February 6th, game time is 5:00pm when the Mechanics face the Quad City Mallards. The Mallards are the only team that has not defeated Motor City in regulation this season and the Mechanics hold a 1-0-1 record against Quad City this season.
MELTDOWN, Misty Lee and Karen Newman: 101.1 WRIF's nighttime DJ Meltdown will skate one shift with the Mechanics at Saturday's game versus Kalamazoo. Meltdown will be fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a professional hockey player. Also on Saturday night, the magical illusions of Misty Lee returns to The Garage for an illuminating performance. Karen Newman will also return to perform the National Anthem.
Super Bowl Sunday: Sunday, February 6th will not only feature the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles battling it out but the Motor City Mechanics and the Quad City Mallards. Ladies and kids get in for only $6! Game time is 5:00pm.

Radio Schedule Change: The Mechanics will no longer be broadcasting home games on the radio. Fans can still catch all home games on the internet through www.mechanicsradio.com and all road games via the internet and 1310 AM WXDX.
Game Time Change: The Motor City Mechanics would like to announce that all Sunday games remaining this season have been changed from 7:30pm to 5:00 pm.
