
McDonald Rips Walk-Off Single, Snappers Win 9-8

BELOIT, WI - Mickey McDonald ripped a walk-off single to send the Beloit Snappers (8-6) to a 9-8 walk-off win over the Peoria Chiefs (8-9) at Pohlman Field before 578 fans Wednesday night.
With the score tied 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth inning, a lead off walk to Trace Loehr followed by a one out walk to Jesus Lopez set the table for heroics in the ninth. After Nick Allen grounded out to short, McDonald stepped in with two outs in the ninth.
McDonald then singled home the winning run in Loehr to send the Snappers to their third consecutive victory.
Trailing 7-3, the Snappers used a five-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to take an 8-7 lead. The Snappers batted around in the frame, as Logan Farrar doubled home Allen who walked to lead off the inning to begin the Snappers comeback. Hunter Hargrove then followed with a double of his own, clearing the bases while plating McDonald and Farrar to bring the deficit to 7-5. Jordan Devencenzi then singled home Hargrove, and the Snappers only trailed by a run. Later in the inning, Jesus Lopez got an RBI on a fielder's choice to give the Snappers a 8-7 lead.
Mitchell Jordan tossed 3.1 innings in relief, and did not yield a run on just one hit while walking two batters.
Heath Bowers picked up his first win of the season, as he surrendered just one earned run on four hits in two innings pitched while racking up three strikeouts.
McDonald went 4-6 with a double, three runs scored, and the winning RBI single.
The series continues Thursday with game the finale of the four-game set as the Snappers go for the sweep.Right-hander Bryce Conley (1-0, 0.60) will make the start for the Snappers and the Chiefs will counter with right-hander Guillory (1-1, 2.20).
