Following yesterday's road trip finale loss in Fayetteville, the Mudcats return home tonight to take on the Lynchburg Hillcats in game one of a four game series and game one of an eight game home stand at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC. The Mudcats enter tonight's series at 2-2 versus the Hillcats this season having split a four game set in Lynchburg just last week (5/13-5/16) during Carolina's most recent road trip. Tonight's game is the 5th of eight first half games between the two teams and the 5th of 17 overall this season... Tonight's game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium in Zebulon and will air live on WDWG, 98.5 FM and online at carolinamudcats.com via TuneIn Radio. The game will also stream live in full high-definition video on MiLB.tv.

TONIGHT: Following last night's road trip finale loss in Fayetteville, the Mudcats return home tonight to take on the Lynchburg Hillcats in game one of a four game series and game one of an eight game home stand at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC. The Mudcats enter tonight's series at 2-2 versus the Hillcats this season having split a four game set in Lynchburg just last week (5/13-5/16) in Carolina's most recent road trip. Tonight's game is the 5th of eight first half games between the two teams and the 5th of 17 overall this season.
ICYMI: The Mudcats were held to just one hit and combined to strike out 16 times in an 11-0 loss to the Woodpeckers on Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville at Segra Stadium. Fayetteville starter Yohan Ramirez turned in a dominating 11 strikeout performance as his club salvaged a win in the series finale. Ramirez carved his way through the Carolina lineup while totaling 11 strikeouts against just one walk and one hit over six and 2/3 innings. Reliever Hunter Martin pitched the final two and 1/3 innings for Fayetteville and held Carolina without a hit while totaling five strikeouts. Martin and Rogers combined for 16 strikeouts versus the Carolina offense; one short of match a season high for strikeouts by an opponent.
ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Mudcats were held to just one hit in a game for the first time this season in yesterday's 11-0 shutout loss in Fayetteville. It was also Carolina's most lopsided loss as they were outscored by 11 runs and out-hit 14-1 on Sunday. Despite the loss, the Mudcats won the series two games to one and finished the road trip at 4-3 after going 2-2 in Lynchburg and 2-1 in Fayetteville.

Payton Henry is currently tied for 7th in the CL in homers (6) and tied for 6th in RBI (29). Henry is also 2nd in the CL in most caught steals having caught 19 of 43 (44.2%) would-be base stealers... Matt Hardy leads the CL in wins (6) and is tied for 1st in games (15)... Rodrigo Benoit is tied for 1st in the CL in games (15) and second in saves (8)... Noah Zavolas currently 4th in the CL in ERA (2.81), 1st innings (48.0), 5th in average against (.266) and 2nd in WHIP (1.17)... Dylan File is currently 5th in the CL in earned run average (2.96), 1st in WHIP (1.07), 4th in average against (.263), tied for 4th in strikeouts (46) and 3rd in innings pitched (45.2).

PEAKING: At 26-17, the Mudcats are currently nine games above .500; one shy of a season best 10 games above when they 26-16 on 5/19. Before the 19th, the last time a Mudcats team sat 10 games above .500 overall was on 7/27/2008 when the then-Southern League Mudcats were 58-48 in the overall standings. Carolina is also 10 games above .500 in a half for the first time since the 2008 team was 27-17 in the second half on 8/4/08. That 2008 team finished the year at 80-60 overall and went on to lose in the Southern League championship series to Mississippi.

Just three years earlier, the 2005 Marlins affiliated Mudcats opened the season going 18-4 in April. The 2005 and 2008 Mudcats both went on to reach the Southern League playoffs in their respective seasons... Carolina's 25 home runs hit in April were a new franchise high for most home runs hit by a Mudcats team in April since the 2004 squad hit 24 homers in the first month of their season. *Some historical data unavailable for the '91-'03 seasons.
